Dear guests of Lisbon, we are pleased to show you the most interesting journey to historical towns of Portugal. Our excursion to Medieval Portugal consists of visiting following places such as Obidos - Alcobaca - Batalha - Tomar.
The first place to visit will be Tomar - it is a picturesque town situated on the river Nabao where we get acquainted with one of the greatest Monastery of the Order of Christ, which was built by The Templars. It is the most majestic architectural achievements of Portugal.
Then we will drive on to small town called Batalha - here we visit the Monastery of Santa Maria de Victoria which was built in memory of victory the Portuguese over the Spaniards in XVII century. The name of that small town Batalha was given from the Portuguese word batalha meaning battle. That Monestary is a part of one of the greatest Gothic masterpieces of all Europe.
The third place to be visited on our tour is Alcobaca - it is a historical town of Portugal where situated unusual Portuguese Monastery with Gothic style, which was once the main catholic center of the Portuguese Kingdom. Now days in that Monastery is stored sarcophagus of Portuguese heroes Pedro and Ines: their story shocked the whole world! Your guide will tell you all details about the story.
And finally at the end of our excursion we will visit the famous town Obidos. It is small and calm town which is famous for its nice villas with characteristic white walls and orange tiled roofs. The abundance of bougainvillea flowers amazes and pleases! Also there are many small churches and ancient stone bridges in that town, which will give us the medieval mood. To finish our great tour you will get a chance to taste the famous Portuguese cherry liquor served in chocolate glass.
