Monuments of Lisbon. Lisbon - capital of Portugal and it is the most unusual city in Europe. On this excursion we will spend a full day to deeply explore the city and its extraordinarily beautiful streets.
We will walk through Lisbon districts such as Baixa, Alfama, Bairro Alto and Chiado. Then we will drive to see the most beautiful Lisbon Cathedral (Se de Lisboa), ancient church of Saint Dominique (Sao Domingos) and the church of Sao Roque.
We will visit as well the viewing points such as Sao Pedro de Alcantra, Santa Luzia, Nossa Senhora do Monte, Parque Eduardo IV and Santa Graca. You will be driven on the main Lisbon Avenue called Avenida de Liberdade which is also called the most expensive avenue in Europe. There nearby there is great monument Marques Pombal. On this tour we will be visiting the main squares of Lisbon such as Praca Figueira, Praca Rocio, Praca do Comercio and Praca dos Restauradores.
Then as we go on our Lisbon tour we will visit Torre de Belem (Belem Tower), which is situated right on the river Tagus, where famous Portuguese caravels were departing from many years ago to discover other continents… The Torre de Belem is a very famous Portuguese monument which is very much connected to the era of the great Portuguese Discoveries. There is small and very old Cafe close to that tower where you will be able to try famous Portuguese pastry called Pastel de Nata.
And at the end of our excursion you will visit Monsteiro dos Jeronimos ( Monestary of jeronimos) where remains of great Portuguese navigator Vasco de Gama and King Manuel are stored. The King Manuel is also known for inventing of its own architectural style called “manuelinho”.
